E-Wood Listserv

E-Wood is the Wood PTA's e-mail listserv on Yahoo Groups and facilitates communication between parents, the PTA and the school. Parents, guardians, administrators and teachers are encouraged to join. You can post and receive various emails about Wood and MCPS related activities, news, events, and upcoming meetings. After you have joined the listserv, you can post a message to E-Wood by sending an email to ewood@yahoogroups.com. Already getting too many emails? Join E-Wood and change your personal membership settings to receive a "Daily Digest" or "Web Only" to read new messages on the E-Wood Yahoo Group website.

There are several ways to join/subscribe:

• Enter your email in the field above and click on the purple button
• Email to ewood-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
• Go to: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ewood/ and click on "Join This Group!"

When posting to E-Wood, please comply with our E-Wood Terms of Use. To unsubscribe from E-Wood, please email ewood-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com.

Terms of Use

• PURPOSE: To facilitate communication between parents, the PTA and the school. It includes information on Wood, the cluster schools and MCPS related activities, news, events, and upcoming meetings.

• ELIGIBILITY: All parents, guardians, and family members of a student at Earle B. Wood Middle School or members of the Wood Middle School staff are eligible to join the listserv.

• MEMBERSHIP: By individual subscription only, requires approval by E-Wood Moderator. Send an email to ewood-subscribe@yahoogroups.com or use the link on the PTA website.

• POSTINGS: Keep your questions and comments relevant to this group. Be respectful. Do not spread rumors, stick to the facts. Do not post virus warnings, chain mails, advertisements, or solicit for business. Do not post content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable. Do not discuss specific teachers or staff on E-Wood.

• SUBJECT LINE: Use it to reflect the topic of your post. Don't reply to a posting and start a new thread leaving the old subject line in the header. Use the “Start of a New Topic” button in the bottom of each message instead.

• SIGNATURE: Sign your full name to your postings. You may also include other relevant information (child's name and grade, staff title, PTA position.)

• ATTACHMENTS: You may attach files to your postings. PDF is the preferred file format.

• REPLYS: To reply to the sender of a post, please use the “Reply to Sender” button. To reply to the entire group, use the “Reply to group” button. Please do not send “Me Too!” or “Thank You” messages to the group.

• SETTINGS: You can change your email delivery setting for this group. The default for new members is instant delivery of emails as soon as they are posted. You can change to “Daily Digest” or “Web View” only.  Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ewood/ and select “Edit Membership” or click on “Switch to: Daily Digest” in the footer of one of the postings.

• AUTO-RESPONDERS: Please do not use auto-responders for your email address on E-Wood.

• SAFETY: Keep your PC and email account clear of viruses. Use virus protection software and regularly check your PC for infection. An infected PC may send thousands of spam emails to the listserv.

• UNSUBSCRIPTION: There is an “Unsubscribe” button in the footer of each email. Please use it if you do no longer wish to be part of this group. Please do not post to the listserv with your unsubscribe request.    

In Case of Violations:

• FIRST TIME OFFENSE: Your posting will be removed from the listserv and you will receive a reminder email from the E-Wood Moderator regarding the E-Wood Terms of Use and asked to follow them.

• REPEAT OFFENSES: Your posting will be removed from the listserv and your membership will be modified so that you can only receive emails from the group, but may not post. Your membership can be reinstated at your request at the start of the next school year.

• VIRUS/SPAM ISSUES: Your posting will be removed from the listserv and you will receive an alert from the E-Wood Moderator about the virus/spam issue. In addition, your membership will be immediately modified so that you can only receive emails from the group, but may not post. Once your email account or PC has been cleared, you can request to be reinstated by the E-Wood Moderator.
